Starum campus
Starum is located on the western shore of Mjøsa, approximately 75 minutes drive from Gardermoen, the main national airport in Norway, and 1.5 hour drive north of Oslo.
Starum is the national educational center in the Norwegian Civil Defence. The center educate all of the personnel in the Norwegian Civil Defence. In addition we centers have a wide specter of courses for other fire-, safety- and first aid personnel. At Starum you will find all the teaching equipment you need in addition to an experienced educational staff. If necessary we will make a course from the customer’s specifications, a course made especially for the customer.
Arriving at the campus
After just about an hour drive by car to Starum, you register in the reception and get your room keys, exercise ID-access card and other useful information.
The Study hall
Our Study Hall has five rooms on the first floor. Four smaller study rooms which are best suited for smaller groups, up to 20 persons. Our main hall is placed in the middle of the study rooms and is best suited for bigger groups (40 - 150 persons). All rooms are equipped with overhead projectors, data-/video projectors, blackboard and flip over.
At the ground floor level you will find seven study room, made for 6 – 13 persons. All rooms in the Study Hall have Internet connection.
Kitchen and dining hall
Our kitchen is our pride - here we serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you have a special need or if it is just something you desire when it comes to food, our head chef, Lasse Røberg, is at your disposal. He will try his best to accommodate your needs. We can promise that you will not leave us hungry or dissatisfied.
The Dining Hall is divided in two halls. The large hall is used to serve big groups, up to 200 persons at the time. The small hall is used for smaller groups and finer meals. This is where we serve our gourmet dinners.
The student hotels
Starum has three student hotels, “Texas”, "Nybrakka" and “Kaserna”. Texas and "Nybrakka" are our renovated hotels with 10 and 16 single rooms with bathroom w/shower. The student hotel Kaserna is the larger of the two hotels for students on campus, with 120 beds in different types of rooms (4 bed – 2 bed and single rooms).
Mess hall
Our mess hall is the campus bar and has all rights. Up to 50 persons can spend the evening here. In the summertime this is the place to be with it's magnificent view over Mjøsa and the countryside on the other side of the lake. Our outdoor furniture is placed outside the Officers mess all summer. A perfect place to find a bit of peace and quiet after a hectic day.
The mess hall is open for everyone in the evening. Open kiosk with beer, wine and snacks. Here you can play a game of pool or some other game, watch TV or take a beer with your friends. What ever you decide, this is the place to be if you want to socialize.
